They Ran Out Of Blue

When I was 5 or 6, my aunt bought me a salopette, it was the beginning of my troubles with the yellow color. I really could not wear that yellow overalls, too bright, too sunny, too yellow, too embarassing. It was a trauma. Would you ever wear a yellow salopette? Surely it was also for the particular nature of that garnment, but I cried so hard that I still remember the day they wanted me to wear it.
The 2020 Luigi still has troubles with yellow, you can see it clearly in my paintings where blue and black abound, and yellow is relegated to a supporting role, if not completely absent.

In 2019 I started working on a project called ''Road to Istanbul'', for sure I have already mentioned it in some previous posts. A compilation that will feature collaborations between two or more artists joined together by a draw. Twelve marriages arranged by chance which will be be officiated and celebrated shortly.

The new release I'm going to talk to you about today is by They Ran Out Of Blue, the fruit of the collaboration between Caleb Fraid and Lovers Turn To Monsters, whose marriage was combined by chance and which was so satisfactory as to lead to the realization of an entire EP and which anticipates the release of the compilation that generated it by a few weeks.

The two fellows obviously know my problem with the yellow color well and have decided to call their project They Ran Out Of Blue, a name full of meaning. Do they mean this collaboration happened out of nowhere or unexpectedly? I don't think so, because in my opinion it's something that would have inevitably happened someday. Lovers Turn To Monsters is a great fan of Caleb Fraid and the other way around. Something that happens without anyone having prior knowledge of it? No, their marriage, once again, is combined. Genuine surprise or shock? Yes, maybe, although their union is so natural.

I think the reference to ''blue'' hints to the problem I have with yellow. and ''they'' are my color suppliers who see me buying tons of blue and never yellow cans and ''ran out'' is a situation in which I often find myself.

The songs by They Ran Out Of Blue are exactly what you would expect from a collaboration between Caleb Fraid and Lovers Turn To Monsters and they are rich in the characteristics that distinguish their music.
I don't know exactly how the songs developed, but surely there was a thick exchange of emails and recordings between the two.

For this series, which by tradition will see each copy come out with a unique cover, I therefore decided to do without blue, favoring other colors that I usually don't use in my paintings.
